2013 Mullum2Bruns Paddle
0The Blast Paddlers crew are very proud to be supporting the 2013 Mullum2Bruns Paddle event, a fun eco-friendly family fundraising paddling event held on Sunday 26 May 2013. This even includes a fun 1.5 – 2 hour paddle, with three main divisions:
- Echo Fun Paddle
- Ocean Shores Tavern Open Paddle Challenge
- Print Rescue Stand Up Paddle Challenge
Other fun challenges include:
- TURSA board challenge from Torakina
- Mullum Sari Nippers Relays
- North Coast Holiday Park Best (most creatively) Decorated Crafts
The event starts at Heritage Park in Mullumbimby, where you register and put in from 7am on the day. It culminates at the Terrace Park in Brunswick Heads with community fundraising BBQ’s and picnics.
There is also free kayak (try before you buy) and SUP clinics, kayak expo, kayak raffle, live music, jumping castle, massage tent, a duck race and more. There is a shuttle bus service to take paddlers back to their cars at Mullumbimby.
Why not stay the weekend? Pick up a Brunswick River Guide and explore the main river and its two arms by kayak or enjoy Brunswick’s other Simple Pleasures with the family.
The event is sponsored by The Byron Shire Echo, BLA, Ocean Shores Tavern and Mullumbimby Comprehensive Healthcare Centre, plus another 30 local businesses, to help fundraise for the volunteer run Brunswick Surf Lifesaving Club, Volunteer Marine Rescue and self-funded Visitor Centre.
You can register online ( please do this to help make the processing of registrations easier for organisers ), or if you are a fair weather paddler and aren’t willing to commit by registering online.
You can also register up to as late as one hour before your event start time but we do ask that you don’t leave it till the last minute as it just creates more work for our volunteers if you do leave it till the last minute – plan ahead and register early thanks ( fun paddlers can regsiter and launch anytime between 7.30am and 9am ). Dry storage is available in the Scout Hall, which is right at the finish line. The cost is $5 per person for a box. A drop off for dry clothes and money is available the night before the Paddle between 5 and 7 pm, and also on the day from 6.30 am. Then collect your things when you finish. The hall will close an hour after the last paddler comes in.
